When clients ask for a video produced for TikTok to be chopped, cut, and shared on four other platforms, Adam reminds those clients that “each platform has its own strengths.”

To get the most from your social media content, explore the functions of each platform, understand how your audience uses them, and then focus on one to three that will most powerfully amplify your brand and story. “Cut-downs don’t cut it anymore. Think more social-first, platform-specific content,” Adam recommends. “Prioritize to maximize reach.”

BE IN THE MOMENT: THE RULES ARE ALWAYS CHANGING

In her session, “Where Brand Meets Impact,” Marty Stevens, Executive Vice-President of PR and reputation firm ChangeMakers, encouraged social media marketers and PR professionals to stay flexible: “The rules are always changing.”

From a brand’s dominant platform to packaged messaging, digital marketers should use real-time analytics to understand the impact of their content and adapt when needed: “How your brand shows up every day builds resilience.” Using case studies from Air Canada and SocialEast, Marty showed how brands make the most impact by responding to the moment in the moment.
