Tim Soulo and the Power of Ahrefs and SEO

Tim is the CMO and Product Advisor at Ahrefs, an internet data collection tool that helps Digital Marketers get the competitive data they need to make the right SEO and marketing decisions. Tim explains, “we consider ourselves a data company,” giving users the tools they need to tap into the data they cannot access themselves. Noting that they do not have a specific user persona, Tim mentions that Ahrefs is targeted for everyone, with educational material on their blog as well as youtube, and easy to use tools.

When you start a website, you want people to be able to find you through Google search organically. In the perfect world, you hope that your customers will see you on the first page of their search results. But without the right SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you won’t rank #1 right away. That is where the little bells and whistles of SEO and companies like Aherfs come in to save the day.

Tim describes the relationship between SEO and Ahrefs, and how the two powers together help you and your website rank at the top. “We help you dissect the websites that are ranking on top of google, what they’re doing, what kind of keywords they’re raking in search, what pages rank higher on google and bring them traffic and what are the websites around the web that are linking to their website,” Tim clarifies. All of these pieces help Google to understand that your website is important and worth a higher ranking, and bring your own website to the top.

Although there are many SEO softwares out there, Tim determines there are two key selling points that help Ahrefs stand out from the rest. This technical complexity of their products and software, created by their very own CEO Dmitry Gerasimenko, stands above the rest thanks to the technical team he’s assembled, that is able to process higher amounts of data than the competition. “Because we have a technical background, we simply can do more complicated stuff, and this is our unique selling point.” Argues Tim.

The second and most important point Tim states is that they are a customer and user of their own product. Needs of their own company are what keep Ahrefs growing, with the discovery of tools and features they needed themselves, they were able to determine what the marketing industry needs as well. “We know what users need, because we know what we need.”

Tim states, “they’re equally important,” Google does not want you to create artificial links, its looking for awesome and notable content that is worth referencing. The on-page content on your site is what attracts these backlinks, sources and relationships that promote offsite SEO. Without outside sites referencing back to you you are lost. Tim advises to create amazing content on your site that loads fast and looks good, while also promoting your site to others and creating connections that link back to you.
