Canada Post Announces Tales of Triumph Contest Winners

Small businesses are at the heart of so many communities across the country. This year, Canada Post recognized small businesses that have evolved and contributed to their communities through the Tales of Triumph Contest. The 2021 winners have been announced! Keep reading to learn about each of the 6 winners, their stories and their businesses.

Grand prize winners:

Mobile Escape brings the escape room to you. COVID-19 shut down their main business model in minutes – but they didn’t fold up, instead pivoting to an entirely new business model. They’re now a global business that has people all over the world playing #EscapeMail – an escape room in an envelope.

Bliss Skateboard Shop sells more than amazing products. They’re giving back with their Boardz n The Hood initiative, which started as a grassroots movement to supply free boards to local kids.

Watergirl Quilt Co. transformed how customers buy fabrics with virtual tours that made shoppers

feel like they were there. They opened online during the COVID-19 pandemic; a brick-and-mortar store opened a few months later.

Runners up winners:

The pandemic transformed everything for Indigenous Nouveau, but the integrity of the business’s Indigenous, ethical and eco-friendly practices remains. In addition to operating her online store, Kaija Heitland, a Métis artist, is helping connect communities through art.

When gyms closed, Soul Studio transformed with live-streamed classes that replicate the in-studio experience. They’ve hosted over 2,000 online classes and interest in their business continues to grow internationally.

This past year, the Donnett family came together to grow a business that sells rare, tropical houseplants coast to coast. Through digital marketing and brand ambassadors, Plant Gather grew throughout the pandemic.
